I know it’s so cliche to say “time flies,” but man-oh-man, it really does. It feels like just yesterday I was hanging the virtual shingle on the door of my company — and here we are celebrating four years in business!

When I quit my day job and ventured into the world of small business ownership, it was not without fears. I asked myself the same questions every entrepreneur asks, but I never, not once, let this question enter my mind: “What if I fail?”

I’ve been on this earth nearly 50 years now (did I mention that “time flies!”), and in those years I’ve accomplished so many great things. I’ve worn a lot of hats, and I’ve never been afraid to take a left turn when everyone else was taking a sharp right.  When on these journeys, I never really thought about the final destination-I was too busy enjoying the ride. The same is true for Endurance Marketing.

Over the past four years, the company — which started out offering everything from writing services to full-blown web design — has evolved. And change is good. It’s necessary. You have to listen to what your customers want. Know what’s hot– and ditch what’s not. You have to hone in on what you’re good at– what you love to do — and do that. And as we move into our fifth year of business, we’re making some (slight) changes again. And I couldn’t be more excited.

We are a content marketing agency. We are writers. We write blog posts. We write case studies, whitepapers, sales sheets and web content. We can write your social media content and your email copy. We love working with clients who are using content to build their presence and share their unique story with their target audience. We are passionate about words. I know it’s geeky, but we are. I am. I’ve been a writer for more than 15 years and very few things excite me more than a blank Word doc. And don’t get me started on how I feel about office supplies!

So back to the “what if I fail” question. I’ve always been the kind of person that believes in the “everything for a reason” thing. Whatever it is you are doing today, this moment, is going to be of value to you somehow, some way, Trust me. I know that sounds deep and philosophical but I really believe that we glean SOMETHING of value from everything we do. Even if what you learn is that you know what you DON’T want to do. Every experience has something to offer. And true, it might not seem really obvious today, but looking back, the roadmap to success is jigging this way and that — never a straight line to whatever your pot of gold is. This is just one leg of the journey.  There is no right or wrong.

Four years ago, I could not have predicted all of the awesome things that have happened to bring me to this day. The people I’ve met have taught me things — about business and about myself. Some of those lessons have been bittersweet, but today I know what I want. And, more importantly, I know what I don’t want. I have the privilege of working with the very best clients, and the greatest team – including wonderful people, like  Courtney Jones.

I look forward to sharing all the new things we are working on for 2015!

Happy birthday to you, Endurance Marketing. You’ve aged well!
