Make your blog posts sizzle

If you’re a blogger,  you’re looking for love every day of the year, not just on Valentine’s Day. You want the kind of love that comes in the form of return visitors, increased RSS subscribers, and an influx of comments on your blog. And, more importantly, you want your readers to SHARE that love (on Twitter, StumbledUpon, Facebook). Ya Digg it?

So how do you make your blog so HOT that you feel the love all year long?

Here are some tips to help you make your blog hotter than hot.

  1. Write killer content
  2. Be creative with blog titles
  3. Find a unique (real) voice
  4. Be a resource
  5. Keep if  (it ) fresh (toss if stale, dated, and boring)
  6. Involve your readers
  7. Be topical (and even controversial)
  8. Write for the reader, not the search engines
  9. Break up the content (bulleted lists, paragraphs)
  10. Don’t be afraid to be funky and use humor

There are lots of ways to make your blog sizzle, but the most important thing you can do to increase your readership is to write stuff that people want to read and share. In the words of Seth Godin: “Don’t write about your cat, your boyfriend or your kids.”
