how to reuse your contentOne of the most challenging aspects of any business is finding relevant content to draw eyes to your website, and expose your brand. In fact, 57% of businesses using content marketing cite producing enough engaging content as a major challenge in their marketing programs. In order to stay relevant, we must find creative ways to share our resources.

Your mission is to provide your clients with engaging and relevant content every single day. Sound exhausting? It definitely can be. But you can make things a little easier on yourself by understanding the power of three simple steps: reduce, reuse, and recycle.

  1. Reduce

The first step is focused around reducing your workload. Yes, we all know that creating new content each and every day would be ideal. However, working smart is just as important as working hard, and there are ways to make each post fresh.

I like to take one piece of content and share it across each social media channel. It is important to adjust the content to make it appropriate for the channel it is being shared on. When posting to Twitter, add one or two appropriate hashtags. With Facebook and Pinterest, be sure to include a beautiful and engaging picture to draw more people to your material.

We get it, your website is spectacular. But the majority of people aren’t waiting with bided breath for you to post your next update on your blog. You must bring the content to where they are: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram Google+, etc. Your content is important and valuable! Make sure it gets in front of as many eyes as possible.

  2. Reuse

Rather than keeping up with a hectic editorial calendar, make a plan to reuse some of your posts. Here are three sources perfect for resharing:

    • An Old Post That Needs No Updating
Bring an older post back to life by re-sharing it across your social media channels. This is especially important with posts that received a lot of positive attention when you first shared.
    • An Old Post That Needs Some Updating
Perhaps some of your older content needs a facelift. By offering a fresh perspective on an older piece of material, you are not only showing your clients that you are dedicated to staying current, you are also reducing your overall workload.
    • A Guest Post That Can Be Republished on Your Site
If you or your company has created any guest posts to be featured on other blogs, republish the material on your own blog. Be sure to receive permission first!
  3. Recycle

You can be as creative as you’d like when attempting to recycle your content. I recommend first taking a look at your company website for any content ideas that might jump out. Have a million accolades? What about notable media coverage? Be sure to create a few posts with details of both. Do you have an Ebook sitting in your desktop? Share it with clients or offer it as a free download when they take a certain action on your website.  Your goal is to take something that seems ordinary and re-purpose it into something extraordinary. Get creative!
