reading time: 2 minutes A company blog is one of the best ways to create a brand identity online. Whether your focus is B2C or B2B, providing relevant information for your target audience is a great way to build relationships. Here are three, simple ways for your team to build a blog following. Promote Your Blog…Everywhere The first step to gaining consistent readers for your blog is getting the content in front of them. Make it easy for your audience to find your blog, and to follow it. Have a Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ account? Include your blog URL in all of your “About” sections. Have a website? Your blog should have its own section in the navigation bar—above the fold. Include repeat navigation to your blog in the footer of your site for additional traffic. What could be worse than having a potential client be incredibly interested in the content you produce but giving them no (easy) way of finding it? Your goal should be to make it as simple as possible for your audience to find your blog—with one click. Include Blog URL in Signature Files Be sure to include your blog URL in your email signature. Signature files are an easy way to share your recent updates with people you communicate with directly. Preferably, link to your latest blog post, showing readers that you take an active approach in providing them with up-to-date content. It is also a great idea to track your links to determine what types of posts are generating the most traffic. Promote All Posts on LinkedIn With more than 225 million members, LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network. Their mission is to “connect the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful.” In other words, LinkedIn users are actively attempting to gain some professional insight. You should be there to provide them with just that! New blog posts should always be shared as an update on your company’s profile on LinkedIn, as well as on your personal profile. Always include the URL, and be sure to click the box for “Show Image.” A beautiful update will appear in their Activity Feed like this: Be sure to “like” other industry leader’s content. This will also appear in the Activity Feed, giving you more credibility and likeability. WAIT… BEFORE YOU GO! The most important thing to remember when attempting to gain an online presence for your business blog is this—content trumps all. Decide what group of people you are targeting, and create relevant and sharable content for them. Keep the self-promotion to a minimum. Instead, write as an industry leader, and create something undeniably sharable for your audience. How does your team work together to build your company’s blog following? Let’s discuss!
